About Us

The National Association of Wastewater Transporters, Inc., (NAWT), was formed in March 1986 and is comprised of individuals and companies involved in onsite wastewater treatment. The Association’s members are employed in the following industry businesses: septic tank cleaning, sludge handling, portable sanitation, sewer line cleaning, grease trap cleaning, and other sanitary waste-related services.

The purpose of the Association is to provide an effective voice at the national level for the industry and to provide a diverse set of services to maintain a healthful environment. In addition, and of equal importance, was to “disseminate information and to serve as a communication and education conduit for the industry.”

This emphasis on education from the organization’s inception has led to the development and implementation of a successful national certification program that covers inspection and operation and maintenance of onsite wastewater treatment systems. To further serve the industry and continue to promote education throughout the profession, NAWT has joined forces with numerous organizations supporting the same vision. These joint efforts have led to additional types of training programs and important advances in the onsite wastewater treatment industry.
